2006

Dear Friend and Family, January 2nd, 2006

Stacy and I went to hospital the day before yesterday for Amniocentesis test. Doctors and a genetic counselor explained to us about the Amnio test and its procedure. The purpose of the test is to count and analyze the number of chromosomes present. Chromosomes contain the genetic material or blueprint that makes us human and determines what we look like and how we function. The normal number of chromosomes is 46, half from Mom and half from Dad. Two of them are called the sex chromosomes and determine if the baby is a boy or a girl. This test is also for finding out possibility of Down syndrome baby and other genetic disorders for the twins. I had to do it because I am 35 going on 36. It was painful. What they do is stick needles into amniotic/placenta directly on my tummy to withdraw two test tubes of amniotic fluid. I was scared that the needles are going to harm the twins but the procedure went well and doctors told me that everything seemed fine. Doctors told me to stay in bed for 2 days for healing. My tummy looks fine but I am sure about inside. The test result will be out at my gynecologist, Lisa Nelson by next Wednesday. We will let you know the result.

Stacy and I just find out that the twins are boys through the 3-D sonogram. We wanted twin girls so bad but they are happened to be identical twin boys. The news about identical twins was shocking news that we were told that the twins were fraternal but they are confirmed as identical twin boys. We were little bit disappoint fact that but we are still excited about the twin boys. Stacy has two boys already and I grew up with 3 brothers without sisters so we wanted girls so bad for this pregnancy. Oh, well I think we have to just appreciate what we have right now and hoping for have healthy twin boys soon.

We had a great New Years Eve party at our place with Maria, her mom, Elani, Mike Molitor, his girlfriend, Julia, Danny (without Georgia), Ryan, and us. Mike and Julia were here with us for 2 nights and visited Mike’s family in California for 2 weeks and they will leave tomorrow for Sydney for good.

Love Jae
